Megahome MH943 Review: Water Distiller, Countertop, White Enamel. This countertop distiller can distill 1 gallon of cold water in about 6 hours. I used filtered water in the tank thinking that water was cleaner than the tap. Even with using filtered water, there was a brown, mucky, sweet smelling residue at the bottom of the tank. I'm guessing it could be benzene, a petrol by-product.
